Mom's 60th

So last Thursday I turned 30 and Friday my mother turned 60. Ash made my birthday really special this year, and it was so kind of him because my mind was busy with my mom's birthday. My brother had the great idea for all of us to make it home and have a little surprise party for her, and it was so much fun. We surprised her at the school where she works.

I kept her occupied all afternoon with a manicure, pedicure, trip to the grocery store, the movie store, and lots of miscellaneous driving around with various excuses to pass the time until the party. She was actually surprised, so that was nice. Here she is with some of her sweet friends. The Oregon weather actually cooperated, hooray.

My parents. I couldn't get some of these to rotate.

Who let that guy hold the baby?

Roger got Mom her favorite cake, which is called Tres Leches, from a yummy Cuban restaurant in Portland. It was the most moist, delicious thing ever.

My siblings with little Sarah. Ash stayed home with Elle and Micah, and I loved having some one-on-one time with Sarah.

She LOVED the seagulls. "Gaviota" is her new favorite word. Also, Monica took all these photos since I forgot my camera. Thanks, Mon.

Sarah is so dainty. It took a good 10 minutes to convince her that wet sand on her feet is okay. If I picked up a shell to show her, she said, "No no" and threw it back down. Look at the tension in her hand.

Roger and Kevin paying close attention to Sarah getting ready to go overboard.

If this isn't Terry Buchanan.....

I included this photo so you could see 1)my adorable grandma and 2)Roger's sweet Superman/CTR shirt. Anyone who votes Rog should cut his hair just a teeny bit, please leave a comment. Come on, he can take it.

Sarah eating a bunuelo (imagine the squiggly line over the n in bunuelo). They are these deep fried cheesy biscuits, so good. Anyway, fun trip, great memories.

Happy 30th, Audrey! I'm glad you had such a great time with your family. Sarah is so blonde! I think Roger looks great with a beard, and I like his hair (sorry!). Sometimes I want Ross to grow one, but neither of us like how it feels as its growing out, so he just keeps shaving.

I'm impressed your abuelita is still going strong. That word reminds me of the Mexican hot chocolate you used to make - wish I had some now!

I am so glad you got to do this with your mom. She seems like a very special lady--just like her daughter! As for Rog, does he even have eyes? You wouldn't know by the picture, so I vote YES cut the hair and let those handsome brown eyes come through!!:)

What a lucky mom you have to have such great kids. I can only imagine how much that meant to her. Happy 30th again too! I'm so glad it was a good one. I wish I could of been there to help you celebrate. We will just have to take the kids to lunch one of these days and celebrate then. Gardner Village? I'm sure the ducks are out by now.

Happy Birthday Audrey. I'm such a good friend huh? I didn't even know when your birthday was. So, Happy Birthday, and when I move back I'm taking you to lunch, or breakfast on a Saturday. You can hold me to it! You are such a great daughter. That was really sweet what you did for you mom. What a fun trip. How did Ash do with the kids? :-)

Wow... that cake looks yummy! I'm so glad that every thing worked out for your mom's party. What a neat thing for you guys to do for her.
Thanks for letting us hang at your house the other day. Sorry Jake was so fussy. I don't think it's a big deal about akc and ckc. I that just means who you register with... you can actually do both I believe. Phoebe was so tired after we came home. She misses Froto!
