Yesterday was the SLC Half Marathon. Thirteen thousand people participated, among the full marathoners, half marathoners, bike tour riders, 5K runners, and 1K kids run. It began at the Olympic Legacy Bridge at the U of U, and wound around down to the Gateway mall. It was awesome! It was very well organized, with plenty of aid stations, and all the proceeds went to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. So this one's for you, Sheree! We love you! (For those of you who knew Ashley's wonderful Aunt Sheree). A nice, experienced marathoner kept me company (and motivated) from about mile 9 on, when I felt like I was going to croak. My time was 2:17:05. I ran one in '99 in 2:02:00, so I guess that's my goal for next time. I was never happier to see my family and good friends Brynn, Josh, and little Magdalena cheering me on from the Gateway bridge. Ash has always wanted us to do a full marathon together. I couldn't wait to get to the finish line and tell him that I will never, ever do that. Half was plenty. :) Thank you, Ashley, for encouraging me and supporting my training. I couldn't have done it without you.
Disclaimer: I know I look like a real dweeb in the photo below, but I was almost at the finish line and so happy! So I guess the photo is more for me to remember than anything.
Sarah at the Lion House.
After the Lion House, we went to the downtown library. It has lots of cool rooms in the children's area with little reading nooks. This one is called the Crystal Cave (planet Krypton for Ashley).
Eliza took this photo outside the Lion House restaurant. I was STARVING (insert Chris Farley's voice). She's becoming quite the photographer.
Micah took this photo on top of the library. Not bad!
See those red-stained faces? They loved the Gatorade.

We were playing hide and seek in the kitchen, and I found them here. I love it!!
They put some roly-poly bugs in their bug catcher, and they're feeding them, what else? Chocolate chips. My kids LOVE bugs and animals. Micah kept one of the roly-polys on his train track for a while.
The other day, Eliza said, "Mom, let's pretend I'm a skunk. A skunk in the Wild Wild West. And I have the biggest breasts of all the skunks in the Wild Wild West, so I feed all the skunks that don't have mommies." She is very serious about her stories. I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from laughing.
This is what happens when I'm distracted and Micah takes food away from the kitchen table. Also, Sarah's mohawk.
Sarah has learned to climb the stairs. Help! She is growing up way too fast.

GO YOU!! I am totally inspired! It is so on for August! I so wish I would of done it now looking at your pictures! Oh, and I am loving that picture of Eliza and Micah hiding. What clever kids you have!
Audrey, You are awesome! Nice job--what a great accomplishment! You and Jamie should run our Stake 5K on May 24...
Cute pictures, way to go on the marathon. That is so awesome, I should really do something like that. I actually had a couple of friends running that marathon too. Love the hide and seek pictures.
Aaron: congrats on finishing the 1/2 marathon. Anybody that can finish one of those is better than me. Although, I would like to try it some time.
Good job on the 1/2 marathon! Do you run the whole way? No walking? Just wondering. I don't think I could pull that one off!
Oh, oops, I guess I should respond here instead of on your page. Yeah, I walked about 4 blocks at mile 9 and was feeling kind of discouraged and then a sweet older runner came by and kept me company. It's amazing how a little conversation can motivate you and almost make you forget you're still running.
The other thing is, I don't know how other runners feel, but when I take a break and walk, I feel like I'm letting the other runners down and making walking more tempting for them. I do that to Jamie quite a bit, sorry Jamie! So I was really grateful that someone came along and got me running again, because I probably would have walked for much more than 4 blocks. :)
I know this sounds cheesey, but I'm proud of you. I think it's great you said you wanted to do this and you did it! And how fun that must have been to finish and see your family. I love the pictures. I'm glad we rescheduled so you could rest after. Maybe we should go around 4 to beat the crowd? By the way, your kitchen was not messy...but I loved your face! :-)
Wow! Way to go! It is so amazing to me that people can run, because I just can't! I've done quite a few 5k's in my day, but that's as good as it's going to get! I am way impressed! And I love the pictures of your funny kids, I was cracking up! :)
Congratulations! Wow, audrey. I am SO impressed. Not surprised at all that you could do it, but impressed still. Good job.
Wow! I'm impressed! And I'm even more impressed that you said "next time".:) Congrats!
Oh, my gosh!! I'm so in amazement that I know someone who did that!! Makes me think I can maybe work up to something like that!! (Work up to means about 2 years:)) Congrats!!!!!
WAHOO!!! Go you, you are amazing! Congratulations!
Way to go! Your second half marathon! You go girl! Just you wait, someday I bet you and Ashley will run a full together. I miss running so much and I hope someday to run one with Jeff. You just can't think about it quite yet, it's kind of like asking someone who just had a baby when they want another...of course they'll say never!
Yeah!! What a accomplishment!! Love the pic I would have been laying there after 13 miles not on my feet smiling and waving for real GO YOU!!!
Wow Audrey-you are amazing. I wish that I had half of your stamina. Way too go-and I love the Forrest Gump picture! Your kids are so cute. I can still remember being in the primary with you when Eliza was just a baby-where did the time go?

YOU GO GIRL!! That's so wonderful! What an accomplishment. You are seriously my hero. How do you train for one of those with 3 kids?!?! I can barely find time for 30 minutes alone on my elliptical, let alone training for a big race like this. NICE WORK!
Loved all the recent pictures. It looks like there is always a party going on at your place.
P.S.-Don't know when we're going to UT next; we're waiting to find out when Tyler's next month off is. We'll keep you posted, because we really would love to see you guys again!
Audrey you are one tough chick! You look awesome in those pictures! I'm so excited for Bear Lake! What a cute blog you have. You can find my slacker blog at lizandmattfamily.blogspot.com. Thanks for running with me! :) Liz
