On Memorial Day we took the kids up to the This is the Place Heritage Village, which I actually never knew existed--I thought it was just the statues and a gift shop. But it was so neat! They have crafts for the kids to do, and since it was a holiday, they had a lot of extra crafts going on: candle making, arrowhead necklaces, wooden snakes, fabric dolls, etc. There are many historic buildings--we probably saw less than half while we were there. And a train takes you around to all the different stops.
"Baby Animal Days" was going on, and the kids were thrilled about that.

Micah getting a shave at the barber shop. The barber was also the surgeon and the dentist.
How funny is this?
The beginning of May, they constructed several Native American huts (I can't remember what he called them). There was a sweat lodge and 2 homes. Here we are inside the "female" home. I said, "Wait, the men and women sleep separately?"
Then I figured it out myself, I'm so bright. How could I have missed that?
Candle-making.
Anyway, it's a great place. Totally worth it to take the kids. But there was a snake in the grass, Jamie. Beware.

Fun. I've always wondered what was there. I should take the kids. How much was it?
Cute pictures... we have been up there a couple times, it's lots of fun.
Fun pictures. This park is fun and you could spend a lot of time there. Just last week as we were driving somewhere, we decided to also go to the park since we hadn't been. The kids had a great time but because it wasn't a planned trip we didn't have a camera...so sad. It is definitely a place we'd like to go back to some day (with a camera).
Thanks for the warning! We will NOT be visiting any place with snakes. Just kidding!! I think we just might brave it. Can you believe I grew up here and I have never even been there. I didn't even know they did stuff like this there. Good to know! Thanks.
Loved these pictures and update. The one of Sarah choking the duck was my absolute favorite. So funny!! Looks like we need to head there next time we're in town--so family friendly!
totally fun!
That picture with the duck is too funny. I love all of these pictures. You guys are great parents. Way to give your kids some great experiences. No wonder they are all brilliant.
I have been wanting to take my kids up there. I didn't know if there was enough to keep them intrested but now I know maybe we will head up there this week. Looks like fun!
