Eliza is 6
Dear Eliza,
There is too much to say. From you waking me up with cocoa in bed when I was sick to you squirting toothpaste all over your brother's sheets when you were mad at him (and then neatly making the bed) you are the spice in my chili, babe! I am continually amazed at your intellect, glad for your tenderness, shocked by some of your pranks, and you teach me something new and keep me on my toes every day. Thank you for the privilege of being your mother. Love, Mom
Eliza had her birthday back on the 6th. The night before her birthday, I asked Eliza how she felt: her last night being 5! This turned out to be a bad idea. She started sobbing about how much she loved being 5, how this was the last hug and bed time story she would get from me as a 5 year old, her last playdates with friends as a 5 year old, and on and on. She is such a crack-up.
So far, we have let our kids have a 'friend' birthday party every other year. We took Eliza ice skating and to The Pie pizzeria with some friends and everyone had a blast. ***Note: it's only $1 to rent skates at the S. Jordan rink, and there's no admission fee! Awesome. We kept it pretty simple at home: we decided to start a tradition of buying the kids a classic book for each of their birthdays, so Eliza got Charlotte's Web (which she is loving, great vocabulary, Moms), the card game Uno, and a little Hello Kitty sewing machine (it actually sews and we haven't lost a finger yet). It was a fun day and I am sad at how fast the time is flying with my firstborn. She is a gem.

Happy Birthday Eliza! Evie wont stop talking about your birthday party and her first time ice skating. Thanks so much for inviting her. And don't worry not much changes from 5 to 6.
We love this girl too! I am so glad we have had the chance to get to know her this year.
Wow! She is so grown up and beautiful. I remember the days when you and Ash were nursery leaders with us and you had to bring Eliza with you even though she wasn't old enough for nursery yet. She was so little and always getting trampled on.
Happy Birthday Eliza! (Ryan says Happy Birthday too). I remember you were pregnant with her when we first met at a Jacobsen dinner. Crazy!
Wow! Happy 6th from us too! I was cracking up while reading about how you asked her how she felt on her last night of being 5. I have to remember that on my next kid's birthday. What a hoot! Sounds like you all had a great time.
Her kits run about 6-7 dollars and they are jam packed with stuff. She also sells premade pages that you can purchase if you want it to look good but don't have the time or the inclination to invest into the kits. She is the best. If I were your friendly neighbor, I would give you all of my stuff for free. Too bad.
She also has several kits that are free to download if you just wanted to play around, but her later designs are by far her best. She is a fairly new designer and there is a clear learning curve.
She is a gem! That is a crack up that she was so sad on her last day of being 5. It is kind of sad to leave such a good year behind. But wonderful things are on the horizon!
Love Charlotte's Web. Try some of the other E.B. White books too... We've loved doing classics with Michael.
Where does the time go? I can't believe she is six. I still remember her at Cody and Shyann's Halloween party and she was scared of your mask. Then a few years later I was able to have her in nursery and she was so sweet with all the little girls. Every one of them wanted to sit by her at snack time.
She is such a doll! She has so much personality. I have slways loved that little thing. All of our girls are getting so old I can't believe it. Happy Birthday Eliza!
