How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

From The Sound of Music, you know? Eliza started kindergarten last week. I almost can't believe it, and I have such mixed feelings about it. I'm excited for her and her new experiences, and sad for me, Micah, and Sarah. I feel like the time has slipped through my fingers. Here was the kickoff swimming celebration with friends. If you click on it, you can see she's trying to plow into the "Class of 2021" cake a little early.

Micah misses her a lot, but we start our own neighborhood preschool in 2 weeks, so then he'll have his own activity to be proud of.

I was proud of myself for holding it together (in front of Eliza, anyway), but you can see the sunglasses on my head, just in case!

Lining up to go in. She stood next to her tough buddy Bryson. She said she was worried about bullies, so maybe he's the bodyguard. Such sweet friends. His "Back Off" shirt and her "Ciao Bella" shirt make a nice combo, right? haha!

And this is how I left her. She was cool, calm, and collected. Go Liza!

I am dreading Brooke's first day of first grade. I cry just thinking about it. I know that she will love it so much but we will be lost without her here for a while at least. Thank you so much for the other night. Your kids are seriously so beautiful.

I am so glad Eliza had a good first day! Kennedy did too. They are just getting so big! Kennedy has been talking about playing with Eliza everyday. Off track time will be fun-they will definitely be able to play more. BTW... That was such a sweet comment you left on my other blog. You know just how to make me feel good about my efforts. Being a mom I realize there are lots of things that go unnoticed, so thank you very much! I think you are such a good, kind, thoughtful person! I am so glad we can be friends.

AHHH! Sounds like you handled it much better than I would have! She looked so darling for her big first day! Congrats little Eliza :)

I can't believe it. Is she really ready to be going to school? I mean, can't you just keep her at home for a few more years? It's all too much. I am taking Cyra to pre-school this fall, but it's only two half-days a week. More just for her to get used to the idea of school.

Good luck to you and Eliza.

Oh my goodness, what a big girl!! It's hard to believe Eliza's old enough to be in kindergarten. Wow. You're such a fun mommy Audrey, I love looking at your blog. What a cute family.

I can't believe she started Kindergarten. I remember when we served in nursery together and she had to come with you, but not even old enough to be in nursery! Boy, time flies. She is sure beautiful!
